Launch party invite

Launch of “Send-it” a success for local charity

PRESS RELEASE MONDAY 25th MAY 2009

An Aberdeen charity, Printability, successfully re-branded itself to “Send-it” at a celebratory launch in its John Street office last week (Thursday 21st May). After eight years of being known as Printability, the charity decided to upgrade to a more modern name, Send-it, which better reflects what the organisation does.

Send-it will continue to offer mailing solutions to companies across the country in addition to the fulfilment services it offers online retailers, which involves Send-it receiving retailers orders direct, before picking them, packing them and sending them out to consumers. It’s an arm of the business that has soared over the last two years and one that will contribute hugely to the sustainability of the organisation, as a whole.

Send-it, operates as a social enterprise and as well as being a commercial operation, it is a charitable organisation that helps and supports people who are recovering from mental health problems. Send-it provides work placements and training to over 20 adults in the region and it is hoped, with the increase in demand for online services, that through time this number will increase. In addition to its well documented social agenda, Send-it endeavours to find more ways to help the environment by recycling where possible and providing awareness training for all those who use the service.

Send-it is now the only mailing house in Grampian to offer printing, mailing and fulfilment solutions to businesses across all sectors. Companies buying into the service not only receive a high quality service in the work that is provided, but there is added value in the contribution it makes to society by helping to provide work for people who are disadvantaged. For many companies, this fits in nicely to their corporate social responsibility.

Jenny Thomson, Social Enterprise Manager, said: “I’m delighted that the re-branding to Send-it has been a success. It’s important for us to move with the markets out there and deliver what our clients are looking for. With more and more people shopping online, it has been important for us to tap into the digital market. The solutions that we offer internet retailers are fantastic – it saves them a huge amount of work and time when despatching goods and it’s great that there’s the social benefit too. Our workforce is strong and members are 100% committed to the work that they do. It’s great to see them benefit and grow in confidence through their time here.”

Send-it owes its continued success to gaining an excellent reputation for delivering a reliable, flexible and efficient service to its clients. It has over 75 clients on its books and operates nationwide, with clients coming from as far afield as Wales. Some of its clients include the Chamber of Commerce, NHS Grampian and Aberdeen Performing Arts. Its e-fulfilment services have seen a number of unusual dispatches over the years, including safety pins, rubber bands, chocolates and pens.
